Month of July

Image
July has been an incredibly productive month, just the way I like it. I’ve never been one to sit around twiddling my thumbs, so I've made sure to keep myself moving, creating, and ticking things off my list.  My outings have been a great way to stay active, especially my favorite walk down to Liston park to stretch my legs. On one of those strolls, I ended up pausing for quite a while to watch the old RSA building finally getting knocked down. It was bittersweet watching a piece of our local history come down, but it certainly made for an interesting afternoon. I spent some time working in Quirks Cafe, which is always a highlight. I took charge of making the hot chocolates ensuring they were extra rich to beat the winter chills, this was my goal and I made it happen!!. I was one of the “meet the makers” at our friday event in quirks cafe. I got to showcase my art work and projects that I have been working on. I sang songs with a wonderful group of friends right there in the ...

month of June

Image
June has been a busy month for me, filled with learning, friendship, and plenty of fun activities. I have enjoyed keeping active, trying new things and staying involved with my community. I feel young at heart and enjoy making the most of every opportunity that comes my way. I enjoyed visiting the Te Puke centre to catch up with everyone and play basketball. It is a fun way for me to keep fit, active and spend time with my friends and share a few laughs. I also visited the Papamoa library for  te reo storytime about Matariki that is in july, it was very interesting and I loved it. During the visit I discovered a copy of Mary Poppins and I decided to borrow it. I have enjoyed reading the book and comparing it to the role play and acting activities I have been involved in. Playing different characters and bringing stories to life has been lots of fun.  I have been following the FIFA world cup and cheering on Morocco, this is my team that I am supporting with my friend. month of may

Image
May has been an awesome month, packed with great energy, hard work, and plenty of personal growth. It was my birthday this month. I turned 61. When I came to work everyone sang happy birthday to me, I felt so loved from my friends at Arohanui xx. The bush walks this month have been a major highlight. Exploring the trails at Summerhill and McLaren Falls offered a great chance to unplug and connect with nature. A huge highlight has been tuning into the native bird sounds along the way, which has made these mid week treks incredibly peaceful and rewarding. I did some fantastic hands-on work over at the Welcome Bay Hot Pools. It wasn't just about putting in the hard yards to help maintain the facility; there was also plenty of time earned to sit back, relax. I enjoyed a well-deserved soak in the natural hot water pool. Balancing good honest work with total relaxation was the perfect mix. Sports was really fun this month. I tried a few new games, the best one was the human board game....
